How to Solve Problems

Solving problems is how you build reputation on Terrace. This guide covers the full workflow from finding problems to getting your solution accepted.

Finding Problems

  • Browse the Problems page and browse by category
  • Use the search bar to find problems matching your skills
  • Check the Leaderboard to see top contributors
  • Watch problems and adjust your notification settings to be alerted about activity

Submitting a Solution

  1. Open the problem detail page
  2. Add a title (5-200 characters)
  3. Write a clear explanation of your approach (at least 10 characters)
  4. Submit and wait for review. Solutions can be submitted while the problem is open or incubating

Review Process

After submission, the problem poster, team members and watchers can leave a review (approve, request changes, or reject), and any signed-in user can comment and upvote. Only the problem poster can change a solution's status:

  • Accepted — The poster confirms this solves the problem. The problem is marked solved, the solver gets the accepted-solution credit reward, and any credit bounty held on the problem is paid to the solver automatically.
  • Rejected — Does not meet the requirements.
  • Request changes — A reviewer can leave this review verdict with feedback; it does not change the solution's status.

Earning Reputation

Three or more accepted solutions add points to the reputation part of your trust score (5 or more earns the Problem Solver badge). Higher trust scores raise your governance vote weight and meet the minimum score some actions require. See the Trust Score System guide for details.
