Governance Participation Guide
Terrace has a governance system where users with a sufficient trust score can propose changes and vote on proposals.
How Governance Works
- Proposal â A user with a trust score of 30 or more submits a proposal (title of 10-200 characters, description of at least 50)
- Discussion â The proposal starts in discussion; by default the discussion period ends after 7 days, and the author can set a different end date
- Voting â Once the discussion period has ended, the author moves the proposal to voting, which lasts 7 days. Voters choose for, against, or abstain
- Tally â A scheduled job closes proposals whose voting period has ended. A proposal passes if enough voters took part (the proposal's quorum; 10 by default, minimum 3) and the weighted "for" share of for and against votes meets the threshold (60% by default; templates use 50-75%)
- Execution â A passed proposal is not applied automatically; an admin executes it
Voting Power
Voting requires a trust score of 15 or more. Your vote weight comes from your trust score: 1 below 26, 2 for 26-50, 3 for 51-75, and 4 for 76 and above. Your REP balance does not change your weight. Delegation rules can be created, but they are not counted in proposal tallies.
Creating a Proposal
- Requires a minimum trust score of 30
- Needs a title, a description of at least 50 characters, and a proposal type
- Should specify the exact changes to be made
- Include potential risks and mitigation strategies
- Proposals move to voting only when the author starts the vote after the discussion period ends
Proposal Types
- Basic types â Policy, Feature, Budget, Moderation, Partnership, Other
- Template types â Budget allocation, parameter change, grant approval, constitution amendment, agent policy, season theme, emergency action, feature request, custom
